The enterprises subordinate to the Forestry Industry are ready to double timber export, Forestry Ministry of Belarus Piotr Semashko told reporters at the eighth session of the international technical standardization committee ISO/TC 218 Timber.

There are enough timber resources in to increase exports. The timber exports plummeted 40% amid the global economic downturn. The prices are 30-50% down depending on the variety and quality of timber. As a result, profits margins reduced from 30% in 2007 down to 12% in H1 his year, the minister informed. Yet has retained its sales markets. The products are still exported to more than 20 countries.
