There is a great potential for expansion of cooperation between and Bashkortostan, President of Bashkortostan Murtaza Rahimov said as he met with Belarusian Minister of Architecture Alexander Seleznev in Ufa on 30 June. 

“Although our bilateral trade increases on a year-to-year basis, the level of our economic relations is not that high. Basically, the cooperation is limited to trade only, but it is essential that we establish large-scale joint enterprises and implement mutually beneficial investment projects,” emphasized Murtaza Rahimov. 

Bashkortostan has created favourable environment for cooperation with , Alexander Seleznev said. According to him, measures will be worked out to increase the turnover up to $1 billion. “We have identified the avenues of our cooperation. We are going to create a number of joint facilities to assemble tractors, loaders, construction materials for low-rise buildings,” said the minister. 

In 2008 the trade between and Bashkortostan totalled $94.7 million. exports mainly consumer goods. Bashkortostan's major import is products of the petrochemical industry.
