The Voronezh oblast, , is planning to expand cooperation with , said Governor of the Russian region Aleksey Gordeyev as he met with the Belarusian delegation led by Agriculture and Food Minister Semyon Shapiro.

According to Aleksey Gordeyev, the Voronezh oblast is set to use the Belarusian experience in developing its cattle breeding. “In particular, the Belarusian government will support purchasing of nearly 2,000 cows by the Russian region. will also organize exhibitions of the domestic agricultural equipment in the Voronezh oblast,” the governor said. 

As for the cooperation between and the Voronezh oblast on the whole, he noted that “the trade has reduced due to the crisis, but we are setting forth a goal to restore and step up our economic mutual relations”. 

According to Semyon Shapiro, integration of the Belarusian and Vononezh oblast business remains an important issue. “I think very soon a delegation of the Vononezh oblast will visit ,” the minister said. 

A solemn ceremony of handing over the Army Commander Lizyukov grain harvester to the best agricultural company of the Voronezh oblast took place within the framework of the visit. The harvester was produced in Gomel , the native town of the legendary commander. The remains of Major-General, Hero of the Soviet Union Alexander Lizyukov were found in the Voronezh oblast not long ago. “It is wonderful that a grain harvester named after Alexander Lizyukov will work in the fields were the general fought,” Semyon Shapiro said.
