France interested in larger presence on Belarusian market

France is interested in increasing economic presence on the Belarusian market, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of France to Mireille Musso told a press conference on 9 July. The press conference was dedicated to the national holiday of the French Republic. 

The Ambassador remarked that Belarusian-French economic ties have noticeably improved. This year’s visit of the delegation of the association of French entrepreneurs MEDEF International to was very important. MEDEF International unites 750,000 small, medium and large French enterprises operating in industry, trade and service sector. MEDEF aims to promote French companies abroad. Interest in promoting mutually beneficial cooperation was expressed during negotiations in Minsk , including talks with the country’s leadership. 

Mireille Musso said that she visited Moscow in June where she held a meeting with representatives of 60 major French companies that operate on the Russian market. The Ambassador of France to attracted her compatriot businessmen to the potential of the Belarusian market. “I told them about , about importance of developing contacts with your country and the importance of the Belarusian market for us,” noted the Ambassador. “I think this autumn we will be able to invite heads of French companies to in order to get them familiar with prospects of implementing joint projects”. 

Over the last few months about a dozen of heads of French companies visited Minsk and are now waiting for more concrete proposals for implementing the outlined projects. According to Mireille Musso, the implementation of new projects and the continuation of existing programmes will allow increasing ’s economic presence in Belarus .
