Greece to allocate more permits for Belarusian truckers

Greece will provide with an additional number of permits for third-country transportation for international automobile transporters. The decision was made at a session of the Belarusian-Greek commission for international automobile communication, it was learnt from representatives of the Belarusian Association of International Road Carriers (BAMAP). 

The two sides have agreed the quota of permits for cargo transportation in 2009 as well as the preliminary quota for 2010. As an exception has agreed to allocate an additional number of permits to allow Belarusian forwarders to transport cargoes from and to a limited number of countries (Kazakhstan, Iran, Iraq, Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Georgia, Armenia, and Turkmenistan ). The possibility of allocating an additional quota of permits for transportation to and from third countries will be considered later. The sides agreed that this year’s permits will be valid till 31 January 2010. 

The Belarusian side has also asked the Greek side to petition the Greek Foreign Ministry with a request to facilitate visa procedures for Belarusian international truckers. 

At the session the two sides also agreed the text of the Belarusian-Greek draft agreement on international automobile passenger and cargo transportation. The sides will agree the date when the document will be signed after the necessary intrastate procedures are complete.
