The Ministry of Agriculture and Food of hopes that the documents on Belarusian dairy products will have been formalized in accordance with new Russian requirements by 1 August, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Food Mikhail Savelyev told. 

The dairy producers of have sent over 817 samples to the Russian labs. “This is the full list of products which were delivered to before the protocol of 17 June was signed, Mikhail Savelyev said. 

A total of 171 sanitary-epidemiological certificates have been already issued. “We hope that the rest will be made by the deadline, which is 1 August,” Mikhail Savelyev said. 

The Deputy Minister underlined that the Belarusian Ministry of Agriculture and Food appreciates Rospotrebnadzor efforts to efficiently process Belarusian food samples. “We are absolutely happy with the work of our colleagues and hope that the re-registration of the documents will be completed in time,” he added. 

A reminder, in early June 2009, suspended the import of almost all Belarusian dairy products on the allegations that Belarusian dairy producers and exporters did not bring the export permits in compliance with Russia’s new technical regulations for milk and dairy products. The export of over 1,200 descriptions of dairy products was banned. 

On 17 June, the sides agreed that Belarusian dairy producers will gradually upgrade the relevant documents. For this period Rospotrebnadzor will lift the restriction on some dairy imports from Belarus. The supplies of Belarusian dairy products to resumed on 18 June. The initial list of products allowed to be imported in included 139 names of products, on 23 June the list was extended up to 273 descriptions.
