In H1 2009 the production output at Belarusian chemical and petrochemical enterprises grew 33.3% over the same period 2008 to make up Br5.944 trillion, it was learnt from the National Statistics Committee. 

In January-June 2009, the production of paint materials soared 6.1 times over the same period last year to reach 1.168 million tonnes. Such a rapid growth is attributed to the creation of a major dissolvent production. 

Over this period Belarusian enterprises manufactured 92,600 tonnes of phosphatic fertilizers, up 7.2% compared with the same period in 2008. Meanwhile, the production of other mineral fertilizers declined. The production of potash fertilizers made up 1.085 million tonnes (39.6% as against the level of H1 2008), the production of nitrogen fertilizers was 379,100 tonnes (94.4%). 

The output of synthetic resin dropped 10% down to 179,500 tonnes; the production of cord fabric sank 38.5% down to 27.5 million square meters. The production of chemical fibers and threads made up 86,500 tonnes or 76.4% as against the same period in 2008. The global drop in demand triggered by the global crisis, affected the production volume of Belarusian tyres. In January-June Belarus produced 1.663 million auto tyres (91.8% as against the same period in 2008), 469,600 truck tyres (88.2%), 254,400 agricultural tyres (92.1%). 

As of July 1 2009, the stockpiles of ready products at chemical and petrochemical enterprises of ranged from 0 to 203.6% as against the average monthly production output. 

The profitability of products and services in the chemical industry made up 19.9% in January-May 2009.
