More than 500 descriptions of Belarusian dairy products have been certified in Russia, Belarusian Minister of Agriculture and Food Semyon Shapiro noted during a meeting of Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko with heads of Belarusian overseas institutions on 23 July. 

According to Semyon Shapiro, all in all, the Belarusian dairy plants sent 825 descriptions of dairy products to the laboratories of the Federal Surveillance Service for Consumer Rights and People’s Wellbeing (Rospotrebnadzor).

Speaking about the dairy products produced in the country, the Minister stressed that they have excellent consumer properties. In 2009, is expected to produce 6.3 million tonnes of milk. Some 2.5 million tonnes of milk will be supplied to the domestic market, 2.8 million tonnes of milk will be exported to Russia , 1 million tonne of milk will be exported to the third countries. 

According to Semeon Shapiro, the export of dairy products increases from year to year. Beginning this year, the export has exceeded $800 million. accounts for 87% of Belarus’ dairy export. 

According to the President, at present, one of the most important goals is to enter the EU market. The European Union is ready to let Belarusian companies certify their products and compete with European producers on equal terms, Alexander Lukashenko said.
