Kazakhstan views agriculture as one of promising lines of cooperation with Belarus

Kazakhstan views agriculture as one of the most promising avenues of cooperation with Belarus, Vladimir Bozhko, chairman of the Kazakhstan part of the intergovernmental Belarusian-Kazakhstan commission for trade and economic cooperation, Emergencies Minister of Kazakhstan, told Belarusian journalists who were on a press tour in Kazakhstan.

Vladimir Bozhko noted that Kazakhstan is increasingly intersted in Belarusian farm machine building, veterinary science and seed farming.

“We need to adopt Belarus’ technologies in dairy and meat production, road construction. Belarusian-made road-construction equipment is in high demand in Kazakhstan as the country is implementing a large project to construct new roads,” the minister said. Belarusian specialists might be involved in the project to build a Europe-China transport corridor.

Vladimir Bozhko also suggested creating joint companies, exchanging experience in personnel training and intensifying the cooperation between ministries and agencies. For example, the emergencies ministries have many common grounds for developing cooperation.

According to the minister, Belarus and Kazakhstan have traditionally good relations. At the same time Vladimir Bozhko believes that the potential for building up mutually beneficial cooperation is not used in full.

According to the minister, the session of the Belarusian-Kazakhstan commission for trade and economic cooperation in Brest in spring was very fruitful. Many important agreements were reached. Kazakhstan businessmen visited the Savushkin Product Dairy and were impressed with the assortment range of Belarusian dairy products.

Belarus and Kazakhstan are preparing a plan of joint action for 2010-20111 to implement the programme of economic cooperation.
