News Export of companies of Belarus’ Ministry of Agriculture and Foodstuffs to Moscow to hit $400 mln in 2007
In 2007, the export of companies of Belarus’ Ministry of Agriculture and Foodstuffs to Moscow will reach $400 million, or 20% up as against 2006, BelTA learnt from Yakov Pustoshilo, the head of the foreign economic activity department of the Ministry of Agriculture and Foodstuffs of Belarus. Over the nine months this year, the export of the Belarusian foodstuffs to the Russian capital exceeded $281 million, or 16% up on the same period last year. The further trade-economic cooperation was discussed at sessions of the working groups of the 4th Forum of Business Cooperation Council of Belarus and Moscow held in the Russian capital on November 19-21. Representatives of the Foodstuffs Department of the Moscow Government expressed a wish to help the Belarusian companies to promote their products on the Moscow market. Moscow is interested in boosting the supplies of Belarusian meat and dairy products, especially it concerns cheese, butter, dried milk, pork, beef, sausages and also potato and other vegetables. “Our companies have an opportunity to boost the export of these products,” Yakov Pustoshilo noted. Thus, the export of cheese to Moscow upped by 30%, beef – by 25%, butter – by 20%, milk – by 28%. At the same time, some obligations will be not fulfilled. Especially it concerns the supplies of pork and dried milk because of a delayed certification of Belarusian dairies by Russia’s Federal Service of Agricultural Supervision (Rosselkhoznadzor). As of today all the Belarusian companies have been already certified. The companies have supplied about 18 thousand tonnes of meat to the Russian market. In the course of the working meetings with representatives of the Foodstuffs Department of the Moscow Government, the sides agreed the supplies volume of the Belarusian food products to Moscow in 2008. In line with the agreements, Moscow trading companies will receive 36 tonnes of meat and meat products, 27 thousand tonnes of cheese, 23 thousand tonnes of butter, 18 thousand tonnes of dried milk, 71 thousand cans of canned milk, 300 million pcs. of eggs and 10 thousand tonnes of potato. In the near future, representatives of Moscow wholesale companies will determine the suppliers of potato from Belarus. They will check the quality of the Belarusian potato, evaluate the possibilities of Belarusian potato’s producers and suppliers. Last year the Belarusian potato was not shipped to Moscow. According to Yakov Pustoshilo, the issues related to the delivery of Belarusian food products to Moscow and setting up the commodity distribution network in the Russian capital are settled with an active assistance of the Belarusian Embassy in the Russian Federation. government Back to "All news" | Print version
