FEZ Grodnoinvest, association of Lithuanian businessmen ink cooperation agreement

The administration of the free economic zone Grodnoinvest and the Lithuanian association Businessmen Cooperation Club have signed a cooperation agreement, it was learned from representatives of the Economy Office of the Grodno Oblast Executive Committee.

The document was signed as part of the first international investment forum held in Grodno on 1-2 October. The administration of the free economic zone plans to sign a similar agreement with a Warsaw-based Belarusian-Polish business center in order to promote investments into the Grodno oblast.

During the forum the Finnish-Estonian company Makron expressed an intention to start up manufacturing high-precision metal goods in Grodnoinvest. Representatives of the Australian investment company InsightLane expressed interest in exporting Belarusian products to the United Arab Emirates. Details of the project will be discussed during a planned visit of representatives of the company to the FEZ Grodnoinvest administration.

Apart from that, Grodno and representatives of Lithuanian Alitus signed a declaration of intent to prepare joint projects in order to participate in the EU transboundary cooperation program Latvia-Lithuania-Belarus. Applications for participation will begin to be accepted in autumn.

The Belarusian side came up to signing a similar agreement in negotiations with the Podlaskie investor services center (Poland). The sides agreed to participate in the transboundary cooperation program Poland-Belarus-Ukraine. Applications will be accepted as from mid-October.

During a contact and cooperation exchange representatives of Grodno companies held negotiations with foreign companies about possible joint projects. The negotiations were preliminary ones therefore information about concrete agreements will be revealed later, said the source.
