In January-August Belarus exported $106.7 million worth of communications services, up 6.1% over the same period of last year, it was learnt from the National Statistics Committee.

In January-August 2009, Belarus exported computer and information services worth $91.6 million, which makes up 99.8% as against the same period 2008. Operational leasing services on the foreign market totaled $39.8 million (82.9%). Belarus’ royalty and license revenues increased by 53.2% to $7.2 million.

Belarus’ export of architectural, engineering and other technical services surged 29.5% to $33.4 million. Yet the export of construction services plummeted 45.5% to $35.9 million, that of transport services by 27.5% to $1455.5 million. The travel industry (business, tourist trips) posted a 4.4% fall to $230.6 million.

In January-August the foreign trade in services amounted to $3449.8 million (76.8% as against January-August 2008), including export $2179 million (77.7%), import $1270.8 million (75.3%). Belarus had a $908.2 million surplus.

The CIS accounted for 28.9% of the total export of services, non-CIS countries for 71.1%.
