Belarus, Russia to develop new fertilizers for agricultural industry

Specialists of the Microbiology Institute of the National Academy of Sciences and the All-Russian Scientific and Research Institute of Agricultural Microbiology, St. Petersburg, are planning to join their efforts to develop a new series of fertilizers for the agricultural industry, it was learnt from Tatiana Romanovskaya, deputy director for research issues of the Microbiology Institute.

Today the joint projects are being finalized. The scientists of the two countries believe they will start implementing them in the near future. The scientific institutions of the two countries are to work on microbal fertilizers for enhancing the productivity of the agricultural crops, probiotics for cattle breeding, biopesticides to combat plant diseases. Innovations will be applied in the agriculture of Belarus and Russia.

The Microbiology Institute will apply its best experience in plant protection. “We are ready to share our knowledge with our colleagues in developing bio-pesticides to protect vegetable crops, bio-preparations for preplant treatment, micro-fertilizers to increase the yield of flax and other crops. In turn Russian colleagues will tell us about their innovations,” she said.

The Microbiology Institute of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus focuses on physiological, biochemical and genetic basis of using micro-organisms in biotechnological processes. The research institution designs bio-technologies for the industry, agriculture, medicine and environmental protection.

The All-Russian Scientific and Research Institute of Agricultural Microbiology, St. Petersburg, carries out research in ecology, physiology, biochemistry and genetics of micro-organisms. It develops the technologies to enhance land fertility, the quality of farm produce and ecological security.
