News Minsk to host CIS Forestry Council session 12 November
The 9th session of the Intergovernmental Council for Timber Processing Industry and Forest Management of the CIS countries will take place in Minsk on 12 November, it was learnt from the press service of the Forestry Ministry of Belarus. The directors of the forestry agencies are set to consider the development of the CIS forestry industry and discuss the working efficiency of forest sector amid the financial crisis. The participants will focus on the prevention of desertification and deterioration of lands and establishment of special plantations and protection plantings. “The sessions’ agenda traditionally includes the issues of cooperation of trade unions with employers and forestry administrations of the CIS. This topic will be high on the agenda of this session too. But we will take into account the current economic conditions caused by the global crisis,” said the representatives of the Forestry Ministry. The session will also consider several organizational issues regarding the activities of the Intergovernmental Council for Timber Processing Industry and Forest Management of the CIS countries.
