In January-October 2009, companies of the Minsk oblast took part in more than 120 exhibitions and fairs which were held in Moscow, St. Petersburg, Smolensk, Nizhny Novgorod, the Moscow oblast and other Russian regions, it was learnt from the economy department of the Minsk Oblast Executive Committee.

The Russian Federation is the main trade partner of the Minsk oblast. Russia accounts for 25% of Minsk oblast’s export, 44.7% - Minsk oblast’s import.

In January-September 2009, Minsk oblast’s foreign trade exceeded $1.4 billion including export to Russia at the amount of $602.9 million. The Minsk oblast supplied trucks, cheese and cottage cheese, sugar and saccharose, beef, butter, parts for trucks and tractors to the Russian Federation. Belarus imported oil and oil products, mineral and chemical fertilisers, engines from Russia.

The Minsk oblast develops trade with 71 regions of the Russian Federation. The Minsk Oblast Executive Committee signed 37 agreements on cooperation in socio-economic, sci-tech and cultural areas with 33 regions of Russia.

The Minsk oblast has the closest links with Moscow, St. Petersburg, the Moscow and Smolensk oblasts. In January-September 2009, the Minsk oblast has achieved record exports to the Central, North-Western, Siberian and the Volga federal districts of the Russian Federation.
