Belarus’ Emergencies Ministry takes part in the NATO’s CODRII 2011 consequence management field exercise organized by the Euro-Atlantic Disaster Response Coordination Centre (EADRCC). The exercise is held in Moldova from 27 August to 2 September, BelTA learned from the press service of the Emergencies Ministry.

According to the ministry, the event takes place near Chisinau. Partaking in the exercise are rescue teams from the United States, Russia, Germany, Austria, Sweden, Turkey, Bulgaria, Lithuania, Latvia, Romania, Estonia, Italy, Kyrgyzstan, etc. Belarus’ delegation consists of over 30 specialists from the chemical and radioactive protection services, diving and medical services. Belarus also sent eight vehicles which are expected to partake in the exercise.

The CODRII 2011 scenario envisages cooperation in the event of strong floods at Lake Ghidighici, accidents at the object with radioactive substances. The rescuers will also partake in diving operations and mitigate consequences of the accident at Lake Danceni.
