Belarus plans to ratify international automobile transportation agreement with Sweden

This session the House of Representatives plans to ratify a Belarusian-Swedish intergovernmental agreement on international automobile transportation of passengers and cargoes. The International Affairs and CIS Relations Commission backed the document at a session on June 4. 

First Deputy Transport and Communication Minister of Belarus Nikolai Verkhovets said, the agreement was signed in Minsk on December 30, 2008. The document regulates automobile transportation. It specifies the requirement to have permits for transportation. The document forbids cabotage transport. According to the document, the weight and sizes specified by the official registration must meet the genuine sizes.

The agreement specifies exemption from taxes and other payments collected for operation and possession of transport vehicles, including exemption from customs duties on fuel in fuel tanks, the necessary spare parts, which are part of the standard equipment set. 

The sides are obliged not to use restrictions exceeding those applicable to the vehicle in the home country. 

A vehicle has to comply with minimum ecological requirements. Engines must comply with Euro-1 requirements at least. 

According to Nikolai Verkhovets, the ratification of the agreement will contribute to the expansion of contacts in economic, political, and cultural spheres between and . It will create the best conditions for stepping up the mutually beneficial exchange of goods, services and ideas in the area of international relations in Belarusian-Swedish transportation. 

Sweden has already completed the intrastate procedures required for the agreement to come into force.
